Kasey Kahne bowled over the competition at Pocono on Sunday scoring a strike in the Go Bowling.com 400.
Kahne was able to get around his Hendrick Motorsports teammate Jeff Gordon late in the race to find victory lane at the 2.5 mile Pocono Raceway. The win is the second of the year for Kahne and 16th of his career.
The race began with Jimmie Johnson on the pole but did not go green for long as Ricky Stenhouse lost control of his car damaging Juan Pablo Montoya and Matt Kenseth. The second caution would come out for Denny Hamlin hitting the wall in turn three.
STANDINGS: Johnson leads but some shake ups inside top-10
On lap 76 Johnson cut a tire while leading sending his No. 48 into the wall and bringing out a caution. Johnson’s misfortune allowed Brad Keselowski some time at the front of the field before Kahne stormed past him. A late race restart would give Jeff Gordon the opportunity he needed to get around Kahne. It was all for naught though as Kahne would pass Gordon on the races final restart.
