Former NASCAR driver James Hylton dies in traffic accident outside Atlanta

Former NASCAR driver James Hylton and his son Tweety have died as a result of a traffic accident in Georgia.

Hylton won two NASCAR races during his career.

Hylton, 83, last ran a Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Sereis race in 1993 but had attempted to compete as recently as 2009. His two wins came at 1970 at Richmond and at Talladega in 1972.

In his career he also ran four Xfinity Sereis races with the last being in 2011 at Darlington. Hytlon also ran a Camping World Truck Series race in 2011 finishing 29th at Pocono.

Even once he stepped away from NASCAR, Hylton was not done racing. He competed full time in ARCA from 2009-2013 when he was 78 years old.
