Chase Elliott led a four car sweep of the top spots for Hendrick Motorsports at Talladega.
An early engine failure at Dover has Elliott on the outside looking in as far as advancing to the next round of the playoffs but the No. 9 is in striking distance and a win would automatically move him into the Round of 8.
“It was really faster than I was expecting it to be today, which is nice. And (crew chief) Alan (Gustafson) and our team do such a good job at these places” said Elliott about his qualifying lap.
The 1000Bulbs.clm 500 airs on NBC and MRN Radio starting at 2 pm ET. Green flag racing is expected at 2:18 pm ET.
