Regan Smith has no ride at Martinsville after finding out that Dale Earnhardt Jr. was indeed cleared to race this weekend after suffering from a concussion and missing the last two race weekends.

Smith  filled in driving the #88 at Charlotte and Kansas, in which he finished 38th due to engine problems and 7th, respectively.

On Tuesday, Phoenix Racing announced they were sticking with A.J Allmendinger at Martinsville, marking his third week in the car… but what about Regan Smith?

Well, that left Smith without a ride for this weekend. Smith couldn’t commit to being available to drive the #51 by the time they needed to in order for them to make plans for Martinsville this weekend.

But, the season isn’t over for Smith yet.

Wednesday, James Finch, owner of Phoenix Racing said that Smith and Allmendinger will share duties in his #51 for the remainder of the season. Allmendinger will be in the car at Martinsville and Texas, while Smith will take over for the final two races at Phoenix and Homestead.
