Greg Biffle can clinch his spot in the Chase at Bristol

Greg Biffle, driver of the No.16 3M/BONDO Ford Fusion Saturday night in Bristol can clinch his spot in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series Chase, and all he has to do is finish 28th or better.

Biffle, who has two wins this season, first at the early Spring Texas race and his second last weekend at Michigan International Speedway is currently sitting safe and sound as the points leader , 20 points ahead of fellow Roush Fenway teammate, Matt Kenseth.

If Biffle doesn’t finish 28th, he can finish 29th if he leads one lap, or even 30th if he leads the most laps. With Biffle’s average finish at Bristol being 11.8 – he seems to be in a pretty comfortable predicament to clinch his spot as the checkered flag waves under the lights at Bristol.

Biffle is excited for the BMS night race, “Bristol is always a race everyone looks forward to. The night race is exciting, lots of sparks, under the lights, the stands are packed and it’s kind of just the ambiance of the race and everything is pretty cool. Who knows what to expect there with the repave, or modification to the track surface. Will there be a second grove? How hard is it going to be to pass? What’s the track going to be like? I don’t think anyone knows until we get there.”

That’s right, nobody knows and that is what is making the anticipation leading up to Saturday mystify drivers and fans alike.

Brad Keselowski, driver of the No.2 Miller Lite Dodge won the Spring race at Bristol, but that was before they decided to modify the track again. They want to keep the good old’ bumping and grinding in place at the famed .533 mile track known for its rough tendencies.

Crew chief of the No.16, Matt Puccia is also looking forward to Bristol, “We had a strong run at the first race, we sat on the pole, led a bunch of laps, but a part failure at the end took us out of contention for the win. The new surface after grinding the top banking will be challenging, but I’m confident that the 3M team will be able to handle it.

Could we see another win for Biffle this weekend?
