Brad Keselowski wants choice in next teammate

Brad Keselowski is hoping he can lend a hand in finding the next driver of the No. 22 Penske car. Keselowski is a three time winner this season at the Sprint Cup level.

“I hope that we can secure a teammate that is an elite talent that I can work with — and certainly some of that responsibility is mine to communicate,” Keselowski said in an interview following qualifying.

Keselowski is hoping to be more then just a driver at Penske Racing.

“I told Roger from Day One, when I came to Penske Racing, I didn’t want to be just a driver,” Keselowski said. “I wanted to be part of a team and part of making Penske Racing as strong as possible.”

Sam Hornish Jr. will continue to drive the No. 22 car for the “foreseable future” according to Penske. There is some uncertainty going forward as there were a couple of races in which Hornish was already scheduled to drive in a third car for the team.

“I think Kurt and I, last year, had a great relationship that showed on-track results,” Keselowski said. “There are a lot of times when I look back and think what a good pairing we were together and wish that some things would have worked out a little bit differently. But that is the past and things are where they are.”

Should Hornish not stay in the No. 22 for next season there are plenty of options available.
