Jimmie Johnson finishes 19th in IndyCar debut

Jimmie Johnson may have won seven NASCAR Cup Series titles but on Sunday he was again a rookie. Competing in the first IndyCar race of his career, Johnson finished 19th.

Johnson began the day 21st and avoided a wreck on the opening lap of the race which took out championship hopefuls Josef Newgarden, Colton Herta, Felix Rosenqvist, and others which started when Newgarden lost the handle on his car.

On lap 10 Johnson would spin his car and bring out the second caution of the day. He was able to get his car rolling again. Romain Grosjean would be the best finishing rookie of the race as he came home 10th.
