Lewis Hamilton has strongly backed Ferrari team boss Fred Vasseur amid reports the team may sack him after a poor start to 2025. Italian outlet Corriere della Sera claims Vasseur is under pressure, with Antonello Coletta, head of Ferrari’s endurance team, rumored as a possible replacement. Ferrari dismissed the speculation, calling it “not even worth commenting [on].”
Hamilton, who joined Ferrari this season and credits Vasseur for bringing him in, was clear ahead of the Canadian Grand Prix: “Fred is the reason I’m here. We’re in this together. I believe he’s the person to take us to the top.”
Despite no podiums so far—except a sprint win in China—Hamilton said he’s committed to the long term. He slammed rumors about his motivation or Vasseur’s exit: “I’m here to win with Fred. He has my full support.”
Vasseur replaced Mattia Binotto in 2023 and had been seen as a steadying force. But Ferrari’s form and the Italian media’s shifting tone have raised questions about internal tensions. Red Bull’s Christian Horner recently denied claims that Ferrari approached him to replace Vasseur, despite long-standing interest from Ferrari chairman John Elkann.
