Monaco winner Max Verstappen continues to stay at the top of the timesheets though the first practice in Spain.
Many drivers began the day testing new Pirelli tires which will be used at Silverstone next month before switching to mediums.
Sergio Perez briefly went to the top of the scoring grid when Red Bull switched to soft tires but that would be eclipsed by Verstappen’s run of 1:14.606 which was 0.768s quicker.
Esteban Ocon finished the session third fastest ahead of Nyck De Vries and Pierre Gasly. Fernando Alonso was sixth fastest at his home track.
