Qualifying for the running of the 2014 Indianapolis 500 will take place this weekend at the 2.5 mile Indianapolis Motor Speedway.

The three rounds of qualifying will get underway on Saturday and last into Sunday. There are a lot of changes at Indy this year, and most of them deal with qualifying.

Qualifying will start on Saturday May 17 at 11 a.m. and run though 5:50 pm ET. This will set who will make the 33 car field. This will not determine where anyone starts.

On Sunday all times from Saturday will be erased. Positions 10 though 33 will then be determined from four lap runs which will be completed between 10:15 am ET and 1:30 pm ET.

At 2:00 pm ET on Sunday the fastest nine drivers from Saturday will take the track. This is the fast nine portion and will run though 2:45 pm ET. This will determine the order of the top nine.
