Forty year have passed since Hank Aaron became baseball’s all-time home run leader.
While Barry Bonds has since displaced him as No. 1 all-time in home runs the moment that took place when Aaron connected with a pitch from Al Downing of the Dodgers will live on forever.
Sure it was in that moment that a black man became baseball’s all-time home run leader but it was so much more. It became a moment that divided baseball history. Everyone who grew up following Aaron’s 715th home run would see it.

Since retirement Aaron went on to be elected into baseball’s Hall of Fame and founded the Chasing the Dream foundation.
The Braves are at home and will hold a ceremony for Aaron, who will be in attendance.
