The Boston Red Sox are looking for an option to pair with David Ross behind the plate.

Jarrod Saltalamacchia is a free agent and offers from other clubs may price him out of the Red Sox plans. While there have been rumblings of a move that could bring Brian McCann to Boston his contract should prove to be an even larger obstacle.

Another option for the Red Sox is A.J. Pierzynski who according to WEEI has already been show interest from the club.

Last season Pierzynski played on a one-year deal worth $7.5 million with the Texas Rangers. Pierzynski responded by playing in 134 games hitting .272 with a .722 OPS and 17 home runs.

Any offer from the Red Sox would surely be of the one-year variety.
