Mo’ne David captivated the nation for a week becoming the first female to pitch a shutout in Little League World Series history and also becoming the first Little League player to appear on the cover of Sports Illustrated.

On Wednesday she allowed three runs being pulled in the third inning of her start due to her pitch count. Davis recorded six strikeouts against Las Vegas but it was not enough.

In the first inning, Davis surrendered a leadoff single and then allowed her first run in Williamsport. Later a two run homer by Dallan Cave extended Las Vegas’ lead.

By being pulled at 55 pitches, Davis would be eligible to pitch in the United States championship game on Saturday should they win their Thursday contest.

Davis’ final line: 2.1 IP, 6H, 3R, 1BB, 6Ks, 1HR

According to reports 34,128 fans attended Davis’ Wednesday start hoping to see history. That total was more than nine Major League games on Wednesday.
