Fox Sports 1 settles for SPEED rates

fs1

Fox Sports 1 is launching on Saturday and will be in 90 million homes. There had been some worries by some cable and satellite subscribers that their carrier might not have Fox Sports 1.

Fox is said to have been asking for $0.80 cents to be broadcast in roughly 90 million homes with Cox, DirectTV, Dish Network and Time Warner Cable. They will have to settle for the $0.23 that the channel was getting from viewers when it was named SPEED according to the Sports Business Journal.

The biggest thing working against FS1 this time around was the number of households that SPEED had been carried in. With FS1 taking over there figures to be a substantial increase in households with the channel which will give them additional leverage for the next round of negotiations.
