Dylan Williams, 8, from Union City, Indiana was hit in the head by a baseball Tuesday during an all-star game practice. He was taken to Winchester Hospital and later transferred to Riley Children’s Hospital, where he died Wednesday after his family opted to have him taken off life support.

The Marion County Coroner’s Office says Dylan Williams died of blunt force trauma on the right side of the boys head and neck.

Erik Williams, Dylan’s father and one of the team’s coaches said Dylan was playing first base when a teammate threw a ball. At first he said he didn’t think the injury was serious.

Williams told WISH-TV he shouted at Dylan to get up and that he should’ve been paying attention. He then went to pick up his son and found him limp.

Williams said that doctors described Dylan’s death as a one in 10 million chance.

A charitable foundation is being set up in his name through a local bank.
