Los Angelos Clippers fire Vinny Del Negro

The Los Angelos Clippers will not offer Vinny Del Negro a new contract, according to Yahoo! Sports. Del Negro was informed of the decision Tuesday afternoon.

Del Negro, the teams head coach had some success in his two seasons with the Clippers, but was unable to withstand a first round Western Conference loss to the Memphis Grizzlies.

Prior to Del Negro’s tenure with the Clippers, he was the coach of the  Chicago Bulls from 2008-10.

Memphis Grizzlies coach Lionel Hollins – who will be a free agent at season’s end is a candidate for the job. Other potential candidates include Stan Van Gundy, who has said that he plans to sit out next season and Golden State assistant Mike Malone – who worked with Paul in New Orleans.

Del Negro led the Clippers to a franchise-record 17-game winning streak this season.
