Longhorns pulling away from Max Wittek?

So much for the thought that USC quarterback Max Wittek would graduate and then transfer to Texas. The Austin American-Statesman reports that scenario is off.

A source told the American-Statesman on Wednesday that the Longhorns are backing away from offering Wittek a scholarship for undisclosed reasons, thereby allowing him a chance to land somewhere else.

Wittek is not expected to enroll at Texas in June and has since deleted his twitter account.

Along with his parents, Wittek had visited Texas multiple times and took in the spring game on April 19. He would have two years of eligibility remaining.

Wittek is believed to have visited Hawaii and also considered Louisville and Pittsburgh at one point.

It appears the Longhorns will again have David Ash under center to start the season. He missed a large chunk of last season suffering the effects of a concussion.
