Johnny Sauter won the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series season opener at Daytona International Speedway finishing ahead of Kyle Busch and Ron Hornaday.
The win was the first at Daytona for Sauter and the seventh of his career. It was aided in part by a caution on the final lap when Jeff Agnew lost control of his truck.
Brennan Newberry sat on the pole for the race.
The race was surprisingly clean early on with only a caution for the blown engine of Scott Riggs’ truck. Then a wreck on lap 54 collected 14 trucks when Brendan Gaughan attempted to go three wide between German Quiroga and Newberry.
Ryan Truex blew a tire collecting Ross Chastain and Timothy Peters which created a restart with five laps to go.
