The Nationals have signed veteran infielder Brendan Ryan to a minor league contract.
Ryan, 33, spent last season with the Yankees appearing in 47 games. He will go to spring training looking to crack the Nationals roster as a utility player.
Ryan has never offered much with his bat at the big league level and has not had more than 400 plate appearances since 2012. He owns a career .232/.295/.315 line with 19 home runs and 203 RBI. He can play second base, third base and shortstop.
