The Minnesota Twins have placed first baseman Joe Mauer on the 15-day disabled list with a strained right oblique.
Mauer suffered suffered the strain in Tuesday’s win over the Kansas City Royals while producing a two-RBI double. With the All-Star break coming, Mauer will be eligible to come off the DL immediately following it.
In 76 games Mauer had a .271/.342/.353 line with two home runs and 28 RBI.
The Twins recalled Chris Colabello from Triple-A Rochester to take his spot on the roster. Colabello has been with the twins once this year hitting .232/.280/.377 with four homers and 30 RBI. He should see the bulk of the playing time at first with Mauer out.
