The Washington Nationals have released veteran infielder Jamey Carroll.
There simply was no spot on the bench for Carroll with the Nationals. The 40-year-old will now have to seek employment elsewhere.
Carroll batted .211/.267/.251 last season.
Last season Carroll made $3.75 million. If he wants to keep playing he will have to accept another minor
league deal. He hit just .194 this spring with the Nationals.
