The New York Yankees have set their eyes on Brian Roberts as a potential replacement for Robinson Cano at second base.

FOX Sports’ Jon Morosi says sources have confirmed that the Yankees will sign the 36-year-old veteran who had spent his entire career with the Baltimore Orioles. Roberts will earn $2 million on a one-year deal which includes incentives.

Roberts has appeared in just 48 games over the last four seasons and is a health risk going forward. Roberts would figure to share time at second base with Kelly Johnson. The signing of Roberts does no prevent the Yankees from seeking other options. They have been rumored to attempting to bring back Mark Reynolds as a third base option.
