The Philadelphia Phillies have cut ties with veteran pitcher Rodrigo Lopez.
Lopez, 37, had signed by the Phillies as organizational depth but failed to impress this spring.
This spring Lopez allowed seven earned runs in nine innings of work. Lopez’s most recent outing on Monday likely ended his time with the team. All seven earned runs were scored in a two inning stint against the Braves.
Last year Lopez spent time with the Chicago Cubs and given his track record as a Triple-A innings eater it is a good bet to assume he will reemerge with another team at the Triple-A level.
In parts of 11 big league seasons Lopez has a 81-89 record and a 4.82 ERA.
