Shane van Gisbergen will compete in the season opening ARCA Menards Series race at Daytona International Speedway.
In an interview with SiriusXM NASCAR Radio on Friday morning, Trackhouse Racing president Ty Norris noted that van Gisbergen is expected to be a part of the ARCA race at Dayonta. The race is a required step for the 34-year-old Australian as he transitions to a NASCAR career.
“We’re in the process of getting [van Gisbergen] in the ARCA race for Daytona,” Norris said on SiriusXM NASCAR Radio. “There’s a [pre-race practice] in January and the Xfinity Series has a pretty lengthy practice, so there’s a lot of opportunities to be observed. That’ll lead to an approval for Daytona and once he’s approved at Daytona, we’ll be able to go to any track on the circuit.”
Last year van Gisbergen turned heads when he won the inaugural NASCAR street race in Chicago.
Next season van Gisbergen will run a full Xfinity Series schedule as part of a collaboration between Trackhouse and Kauling Racing. He will also run a part-time Cup Series schedule with a return to Chicago and the Coca-Cola 600 as known dates.
