Alex Palou wins at Portland, claims IndyCar championship

Alex Palou claimed his second NTT IndyCar championship in three years winning the next to last race of the season at Portland International Raceway.

Romain Grosjean would have to make an early pitstop after taking damage on the opening lap. Will Power would soon bring out the first caution of the race after he spun and went off the track in front of Alexander Rossi.

On lap 49 Palou appeared to block Helio Castroneves but IndyCar opted not to review the incident.

After receiving a speeding penalty on the first pitstop Colton Herta was working his way up to eighth when he hit a curb and went off track and spun losing five positions.

Palou’s worst finish of the season was an eighth place finish in the season opener in St. Petersburg.
