The race weekend at Nashville Speedway has gone from bad to worse. Already facing a nine spot penalty for unapproved engine changes after a test at the Milwaukee Mile, Malukas would find the wall in the opening practice session at Nashville.

The impact with the wall of the No. 12 would result in the wheel coming off Malukas’ car, possibly by his knee.
After safety crews were able to help Malukas from his ride, he was able to walk to the track ambulance. Repairs on the outside wall would then begin.
Prior to his crash, Malukas was second fastest on the scoring pylon. The field at the time of the crash can be seen below.
Without a stoppage for red flags, the entire field will lose practice time though IndyCar would make a decision to add 10 minutes to the clock.
Malukas’ next time behind the wheel will be his qualifying attempt later today.
