Austin Hill wins Xfinity Series race at Daytona, Full Results

Austin Hill won the Beef. It’s what’s for Dinner 300 at Daytona International Speedway on Saturday.

The driver of the No. 2 won the season opener for the Xfinity Series finishing ahead of John Hunter Nemechek and Justin Allgaier at the 2.5-mile oval. Racing started in the late evening and drifted into the night as contact on the track continued.

Radio issues forced pole sitter Austin Hill to the back of the track for the start of the race but the 28-year-old stormed to the front winning the first stage even as a late stage block angered competitor Justin Allgaier. Not to be deterred, Allgaier would win the second stage of the race.

The end of the race saw a caution on the final lap forcing a review to determine who was in front at the time of the yellow. In the end it was Hill who was determined to be the winner.

The 65th running of the Daytona 500 takes place on Sunday. Alex Bowman is on the pole.
