The Saints are bringing in Blake Bortles after losing Taysom Hill and Trevor Siemian to the reserve/COVID-19 list/

Bortles will give the Saints a backup with experience behind Ian Book who is expected to make his NFL debut in Monday’s game against the Dolphins.

Bortles, 29, spent five seasons with the Jaguars after being drafted third overall in 2014. Despite some early success in his career, the former UCF quarterback has bounced around to the Rams, Broncos and Packers since.

The last time Bortles threw a pass in the NFL was in 2019. Currently the Saints have 11 players on the reserve/COVID-19 list.

Book will be the fourth different quarterback to start for the Saints this season. He joins the likes of Hill, Siemian, and Jameis Winston.
