The Saints found themselves in a desperate spot ahead of their Week 16 game against the Dolphins.
Before signing Blake Bortles the front office apparently reached out to Drew Brees and Phillip Rivers according to Jeff Duncan of NOLA.com. The former, who is in his first year as an analyst for NBC Sports, responded by sending the team a photo of himself golfing.
Ian Brook will start on Sunday for the Saints with Bortles serving as the backup.
The Saints are without Taysom Hill and Trevor Siemian who are on the reserve/COVID-19 list and Jameis Winston who was suffered a torn ACL in Week 8.
