Michael Schumacher is in a hospital and is now in a coma following “severe head trauma” from a skiing accident in the French Alps on Sunday.
The 44-year-old German hit his head on a rock during a skiing incident reports the director of the Meribel resort.
“He was alone and he wore a helmet. He hit his head on a rock,” director Gernignon-Lecomte said.
“He was rescued a few minutes later by two first aid workers. He was then transferred by helicopter to a nearby hospital.
A representative for the seven-time Formula One champion said the injuries are non-life threatening earlier in the day. He has since gone into a coma. Once the most dominating driver on the circuit, Schumacher owns 91 career wins.
