The Washington Nationals want a $300 million retractable roof for their ballpark and they want the District of Columbia to pay for it.

After Nationals owner Ted Lerner laid out his plan, Mayor Vincent Gray reportedly “started laughing” according to Michael Neibauer of the Washington Business Journal.

Of course not all thought the idea for a roof was bad, if the Nationals were to pay for it.

“Great idea, but the Lerners would have to pay for it and I think there are creative ways to do that,” said D.C. Councilman Jack Evans, D-Ward 2.

Evans believes the Nationals should buy the roof and try to earn the money for it back by offering off-season events such as concerts in the stadium.

Last season four home games were cancelled due to inclement weather.
