Matt Hasselbeck practicing on Thursday for Colts

Matt Hasselbeck returned to practice for the Colts on Thursday after sitting out Wednesday as he attempts to heal injuries to his ribs and left arm.

The 40-year-old Hasselbeck appears in line to start Sunday’s contest against the Texans which means a match-up of quarterbacks Charlie Whitehurst and T.J. Yates will be avoided.

When Hasselbeck first took over for the Colts in place of an injured Andrew Luck the veteran reeled off four wins but ineffective play and an apparent running out of steam has plagued him and the Colts offense recently.

Luck has already been ruled out for the week as he tries to recover from a lacerated kidney suffered in a win over the Broncos weeks ago.

At 6-7 the Colts and Texans are battling for the top spot in the AFC South.
