John Abraham placed on season ending IR

On Friday the Arizona Cardinals placed linebacker John Abraham on injured reserve ending his season following a concussion suffered in Week 1.

Abraham took a week away from the team but once back did not pass though the concussion tests to gain clearance to play. The 36-year-old is the active NFL leader with 133.5 sacks but his career may be over.

After a poor finish to the 2012 season with Atlanta, Abraham joined the Cardinals prior to the 2013 season and was expected to full a pass rush role. Instead he became a fixture in the Cardinals defense making 11.5 sacks.

The loss of Abraham further cripples a Cardinals defense which has been beset by injuries since training camp started.
