Josh Johnson did not spend long on the street. The Cincinnati Bengals cut Johnson on Tuesday but he has now signed on with the San Francisco 49ers.

Positioned as No. 2 on the depth chart behind Andy Dalton, Johnson never attempted a pass last season. If the 49ers are fortunate that statistic will remain the same for the 2014 season.

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers selected Johnson with the No. 150 pick in 2009 but his career has been little more than some spot appearances since. In 2012 he joined the 49ers but was cut before the season began.

Currently the 49ers have Colin Kaepernick as their starter with Colt McCoy, Blaine Gabbert, Kory Faulkner and McLeod Bethel-Thompson all signed.
