Following the NFL Draft, the Philadelphia Eagles signed Taylor Martinez to a three-year deal. That deal is off according to Husker Online after the four-year starter at Nebraska failed his physical.
Casey Martinez told the website that the Eagles flew Taylor to Philadelphia and took x-rays on his injured foot at which time he failed the team physical.
“It’s just another obstacle for Taylor that he will overcome as he has since high school,” Casey Martinez said in a text message.
Casey Martinez followed by saying his son will “seriously consider” getting surgery and push at returning after a full recovery.
“We can’t believe it,” Casey Martinez said. “The Eagles treated him great the brief time he was there. It’s crushing. It was a perfect fit for him.”
One could wonder what Martinez would have brought to the Eagles paired with Chip Kelly however the Eagles currently have a full slate of quarterbacks with Nick Foles, Mark Sanchez and Matt Barkley all on the roster.
