New York Jets land wide receiver Eric Decker

The New York Jets set their sights on free agent wide receiver Eric Decker and landed him late Wednesday night.

Decker, 26, recently spent time with the Denver Broncos catching balls from future hall of fame quarterback Peyton Manning. Decker has gone over 1,000 yards, caught 85-plus passes and caught double digit touchdowns over the last two seasons.

Of course the quarterback corps in New York is nowhere near that level.

While Decker had not been receiving the wide spread interest that many anticipated it only takes one team willing to overpay in the NFL. Decker was believed to be seeking at-least $7 million annually.

According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter he landed a five-ear deal with the Jets worth a total of $36.25 million. The Jets have also guaranteed $15 million of the deal.

The Jets leading receiver last season was Jeremy Kerley who led the team with 43 catches for 523 yards. Tight end Jeff Cumberland led the team with four touchdown receptions. Decker should have no trouble topping those numbers regardless of who is throwing to him in 2014.
