Rashard Mendenhall has opted to retire from the NFL.
Mendenhall, 26, has not been the same player he was prior to his 2012 ACL injury. Recently he hinted in a Huffington Post blog that he was considering retirement.
The six-year career of Mendenhall will come to a close with 4,236 rushing yards, 72 touchdowns and a 3.9 average yards-per-carry.

Last season Mendenhall had 687 yards rushing and eight touchdowns.
Andre Ellington will now step into the role of the No. 1 running back in Arizona.
