Adrian Peterson to miss season finale

It’s hardly a surprise. The Minnesota Vikings will finish the season against the Detroit Lions without Adrian Peterson.

Peterson (foot) was not expected to play in the finale for the Vikings (4-10-1) and with Toby Gerhart sidelined with a hamstring injury the team will have to rely on Matt Asiata and Joe Banyard.

Playing in place of Peterson and Gerhart in week 15, Asiata had a ridiculous 30 rushes for 51 yards (1.7 yards) but found the endzone three times.

Peterson will finish the 2013 season with 1,266 yards and ten touchdowns.
