The Houston Texans have already begun their search for a new head coach. Current Penn State head coach Bill O’Brien is now being considered the favorite to land the Texans coaching gig reports ESPN.
Recently O’Brien met with the Texans front office. The team has also spoken to Lovie Smith.
O’Brien was an assistant with the New England Patriots from 2007-2012 and had interviews with the Cleveland Browns and Philadelphia Eagles last year.
The Texans reportedly have a short list of other options should a deal with O’Brien not work out. It’s worth noting that O’Brien reduced his buyout clause after last year meaning the Texans would be on the hook for just over $6 million, rather then the almost $20 million teams would have to of paid a year ago.
