It was only a matter of time before Jairus Byrd signed his franchise tender for the 2013 season.

On Tuesday the 26-year-old Safety signed a one-year contract worth $6.916 million. Byrd and the Bills were unable to work out a long-term deal months ago and now Byrd will play on a one-year pact.

Byrd never intended to miss the season and had little to gain going forward now that he has managed to miss the first two preseason games. He should have no problem returning to the Bills defense.

One of the leagues play-makers on the defensive side of the ball, Byrd has forced seven fumbles and recorded eight interceptions over the last two seasons.
