Former Panther kicker John Kasay retires

John Kasay joined the Carolina Panthers before their inaugural 1995 season. He went on to spent 15 of his 20 NFL seasons with the team before moving on to New Orleans.

The retirement of Kasay will not get the fan fare of Jason Hanson who retired after failing to work out a new deal with the Lions. But like Hanson, Kasay was one of the best kickers in the league during his time with the Panthers and ended his NFL career with 461 field goals.

Kasay did not play in 2012 after losing out on the Saints kicking job in Training Camp.

The Panthers have planned a lunch for the former kicker on Tuesday.
