A backup quarterback at the University of Texas has been arrested for public intoxication and carrying a fake drivers license. Connor Brewer was arrested by school police early Saturday. The news comes shortly after the school revealed that offensive coordinator Major Applewhite had an affair with an adult student at the 2009 Fiesta Bowl.

School spokeswoman Rhonda Weldon says the charges are misdemeanors. Conviction carries a fine of up to $500 per charge.

Brewer did not play during the 2012 season but was expected to see some time next season.
