Sam Hornish Jr. won the pole for Saturday’s NASCAR Nationwide Series race at Talladega Superspeedway. The driver of the No. 54 Toyota Camry beat out Elliott Sadler and Darrell Wallace Jr. for the top spot.
In the final segment of knockout qualifying Hornish set the fast time with a lap speed of 51.268 seconds, claiming the pole at the 2.66-mile track located in Talladega, AL.
In the first session of qualifying, Kyle Larson attempted to thread the needle between Tanner Berryhill and Regan Smith. The result was a destroyed racecar for Berryhill.
Last season Rgan Smith won this Nationwide Series race at Talladega a season ago. Coverage of the Aaron’s 312 will take place on ESPN beginning at 3:00 pm ET with the green flag set to wave at 3:25 pm ET.
Saturday’s race will be 117 laps making up a total of 311.2 miles.
