The Kansas City Royals have placed left handed starting pitcher Jason Vargas on the 15-day disabled list.
Vargas is dealing with a left flexor strain and had been scheduled to start for the Royals in Sunday’s game against the St. Louis Cardinals.
Brandon Finnegan has been called up from Triple-A to take the roster spot of Vargas.
In eight starts this season Vargas was 5-2 with a 4.10 ERA and a 1.34 WHIP/ He had gone six innings in three of his last four outings.
