Byron Buxton to make Major League debut on Sunday

The Minnesota Twins will call up the No. 1 ranked prospect in baseball on Sunday having him play in a game against the Texas Rangers.

Byron Buxton will play in the Twins outfield wearing the No. 25 for a match-up against Rangers right hander Nick Martinez.

The 21-year-old Buxton was hittingĀ .283/.351/.489 with six homers, seven doubles, 12 triples and 37 RBIs in 59 games at Double-A while stealing 20 bases on 22 attempts.Ā Buxton is in currently on aĀ 10-game hitting streak, batting .421/.489/.500 with a double and a triple.

Last season Buxton dealt with aĀ sprained left wrist, a concussion and a dislocated left finger but has managed to stay healthy this year.

The former No. 2 overall pick in the 2012 draft, Buxton fills a Twins outfield which has Aaron Hicks out with a sore right elbow and Torii Hunter currently serving a two game suspension.
