Switch pitcher Pat Venditte placed on DL

Major League Baseball’s only switch throwing pitcher has been placed on the 15-day disabled list by the Oakland Athletics.

The 29-year-old had become an intriguing late inning option out of the Athletics bullpen but lands on the DL with a strained right shoulder.

In four games Venditte had not allowed a run while pitching a total of 5 2/3 innings.

The Athletics have recalled Arnold Leon from Triple-A Nashville to take his roster spot.
