The Washington Nationals have released minor leaguer player Kila Ka’aihue.
Ka’aihue, 31, had appeared in 39 games for Triple-A Syracuse this season but was hitting just .193/.314/.328 with four home runs and 13 RBI.
A native of Hawaii, Ka’aihue has appeared in 126 big league games between the Kansas City Royals and Oakland Athletics but none since the end of the 2012 season. He was a career .221/.305/.382 hitter with 15 home runs and 46 RBI during those contests. He spent last season playing in Japan.
Always appearing as a Four-A player, Ka’aihue will look for other opportunities before hanging up the cleats.
