Jason Vargas will make a start for the Kansas City Royals on Tuesday night at Yankee Stadium.
Vargas has missed the last three weeks with a flexor strain in his left elbow but now assumes the spot of Danny Duffy in the Royals rotation. The Royals did not have Vargas make any rehab starts. In five starts this season Vargas is 3-1 with a 5.26 ERA and a 1.48 WHIP.
Duffy is heading tot he disabled list with inflammation in his left shoulder.
The Royals have also recalled left hander Brandon Finnegan from Triple-A Omaha. In 6 2/3 innings earlier this season Finnegan had a 2.70 ERA.
