The Boston Red Sox are set to acquire relief pitcher Anthony Varvaro from the Atlanta Braves.
Varvaro, 30, was recently designated for assignment by the Braves to make room for Alberto Callaspo.
The move would give the Red Sox a nice right handed arm as Varvaro holds a 2.99 ERA over 153 relief appearances and finished the 2014 season with a 2.63 mark adding 50 strikeouts over 54 2/3 innings last season.
