The Red Sox have dealt outfielder Yoenis Cespedes to the Tigers for starting pitcher Rick Porcello. After reports that the deal between the two was still alive FOX Sports’ CJ Nitkowski confirmed it had been completed Thursday morning.

Also headed to Detroit is right handed reliver Alex Wilson and another low-level minor league pitcher.

The Tigers have been looking to add an outfield bat and they get one with a power stroke in Cespdes. After splitting time between the Athletics and Red Sox the 28-year-old Cespedes is coming off a 2014 in which he hit .260/.301/.450 with 22 home runs and 100 RBI in 152 games.

It was not a cheap trade though as the Tigers had to send the 25-year-old Porcello to Boston. The right hander is coming off the best season of his career in which he was 15-13 with a 3.43 ERA and a 1.23 WHIP across 204 2/3 innings of work.

Both Cespedes and Porcello will be free agents at the end of the 2015 season.
